Our ENT Centre also provides evaluation and management of conditions affecting the thyroid, salivary glands, lymph nodes, and other structures of the head and neck. Neck swelling or a lump can have many possible causes, making proper clinical examination and appropriate investigation important.
Our head and neck services include the assessment and management of Thyroid Nodules (Goitre), Thyroiditis, Parotitis, Parotid Swelling, Salivary Gland and Duct Stones (Sialolithiasis), Cervical and Tubercular Lymphadenitis, Neck Swellings, Ranula, and Thyroglossal Cyst.
Thyroid Nodules (Goitre) & Thyroiditis
Thyroid conditions may present as a swelling or lump in the neck, changes in thyroid function, discomfort, or difficulty swallowing. Thyroid nodules and inflammation require appropriate evaluation to determine their nature and cause.
Parotitis
Parotitis is inflammation of the parotid salivary gland, which can cause swelling, pain, and discomfort around the cheek or jaw area. It may occur due to infection, obstruction, or other causes.
Parotid Swelling
Swelling of the parotid gland can result from infection, inflammation, blockage, cysts, or other conditions. Proper examination helps determine the underlying cause of the swelling.
Salivary Gland & Duct Stones (Sialolithiasis)
Salivary gland stones can block the flow of saliva and may cause swelling or pain, particularly around mealtimes. ENT assessment helps identify the location of the stone and determine suitable treatment.
Cervical & Tubercular Lymphadenitis
Cervical lymphadenitis involves inflammation or enlargement of lymph nodes in the neck. In some cases, lymph node enlargement may be related to tuberculosis or other infections and requires appropriate evaluation and investigation.
Neck Swellings
Neck swelling can arise from lymph nodes, thyroid disorders, salivary glands, cysts, infections, or other causes. Any persistent or unexplained neck lump should be properly assessed.
Ranula
A ranula is a fluid-filled swelling that develops in the floor of the mouth, usually related to the salivary glands. It may cause discomfort or interfere with normal oral function depending on its size.
Thyroglossal Cyst
A thyroglossal cyst is a fluid-filled congenital cyst that can develop along the pathway of thyroid development in the neck. It may present as a midline neck swelling and can sometimes become infected.
